World's first: 2K smartphone

A couple of OEMs have been teasing their work on smartphones that features 2K resolution displays. Yesterday, Oppo got very official with the confirmation of the Find 7's 2K display, the six-inch Xplay 3S.

The display isn't the only thing that's high-end on this. Beyond its 2560 x 1440 high-res display, the phone embodies the Snapdragon 800, 3GB of RAM, 32GB of internal storage, some premium audio DAC and amplifier chips, and a 3200 mAh battery. Located at the back you will only not see the 13-megapixel camera, but a fingerprint scanner as well.

Vivo is sticking to China for the initial release, but is planning a global push sometime around 2014. This one is even affordable than one leak provides, with a starting price around $580.

The 6-inch 2K display gives you a pixel density of 490ppi, compared to the S4's 441ppi and the iPhone 5's' puny 329ppi (as of today's standards).
