Both Apple's iPhone 5S and iPhone 5 outsold Samsung's Galaxy S4 in October, says research firm Counterpoint.
Counterpoint noted that the 5S remained on the top spot for global smartphone sales in spite of supply shortages that forced customers to wait to snag the phone - and as the supply ramps up, the research firm expects Apple to meet even stronger demands for November and December.
Coming in at second place, the iPhone 5 took it home, leaving the S4 on the third spot, followed by the 5C at No. 4, Note 3, S3, and the Galaxy S4 Mini.
Counterpoint's monthly Market Pulse report culls its sales data from surveys of major retailers and distributors across 33 countries along with consumer polls and analyst estimates.
